How it started...

Dave began his Locksmithing career in 1998. He has worked across all facets of the trade and in 2013 he opened 'Port Stephens Locksmiths' where he specialised in Commercial projects, Access control and New build / Renovation hardware. 

After purchasing their first Caravan, the first thing Dave did was replace the generic caravan locks to make 1 key work all locks and hatches, because he knew all those keys were going to do his head in.... plus being a locksmith he knew it wasn't secure as it was.

During Daves 20+ years of Locksmithing and in their travels talking to other Caravan owners he knew people were craving a convenient and secure option for caravans and so The 1Key Company came into fruition.

This venture has been the perfect marriage of Dave's skills as a Locksmith and his passion for travel and the outdoors. Along with Jamie's skills in business operations they have been exploding into the Caravan scene since 2022.

In 2023 Dave sold Port Stephens Locksmiths to focus on 1 Key Caravan to answer the demand for more locks to suit more Caravans.

When Dave is not working on new product solutions, assembling your kits or talking to you at shows, he is caravanning or boating with his wife Jamie on the hunt for fish, waves and good coffee.

A LITTLE HISTORY.

Two years into the 1Key Journey the uptake and interest has been beyond the expectations. The 1Key Company now have a broad Caravan dealer, Caravan manufacturer and Caravan installer database across Australia and New Zealand. 

The 1Key System is the best caravan security device on the market where many customers fall into two buckets - either replacing caravan locks and caravan keys to upgrade their caravan security and convenience (which is easily done via DIY video) OR are requesting it with their dealers for new caravans prior to handover.

In the range now 1KeyCaravan replace compression locks, Thetford hatch locks, Coast water fillers, Finch picnic table locks, MW toolbox locks, McNaughton drop T locks, Camec door, Aussie Traveller door, Padlocks, T handles, Shower locks, Wingknobs, Lockable PVC end caps... with MORE in the pipeline.

In 2024 The 1Key Company announced their exclusive distributorship of the TALON range - this is a game changer to the Caravan industry where you can now key alike your Caravan hitch locks (D035 and D045 Hitch Pins and locks). Using a 'pink key'.
